Congratulations Class of 2021!
By: Chiara Bruzzi
Exactly one week ago, I graduated from high school. I wish I could write about all of the emotions I feel from ending this chapter in my life and starting a completely new and different one; but, it has been hard to get in touch with those emotions. I have been holding them in, which is not usual for me, but it’s happening. Instead of posting a premature blog post about a topic or feeling that I have yet to embrace or let go of fully, I would like to share my graduation speech to commemorate the class of 2021. I hope that this serves as a reminder to be kind to yourself while embracing, changing, and discovering who you are. May you also use this as a reminder to smile a little brighter today, be kinder to yourself tomorrow, and enjoy these summer days 😉
Graduation Speech:
4 June 2021
As I look out into our class, I see so much talent. Every single one of us has something to bring to the table. Whether it’s a skill, a joke, a solution to a problem, or a signature face, we all have something that makes us and this class unique. We are all living a time in our lives when so much is changing. As we find ourselves, I want to share with you all something that a Lama, which is a Buddhist nun, told me a few weeks ago, and that is that our essence is already perfect. We, as young people, the future of this world, are already perfect. So yes, go out into the world seniors and become the future activists, writers, entrepreneurs, artists, nurses and doctors, but while you do that don’t forget who you are. Don’t forget that while finding yourself through all of the imperfections, you are already perfect. I’d like to close this speech by spreading some love. This next part actually comes from a loving kindness meditation that goes to promote love to others and yourself.
Friends, as you continue your journey through life
May you be happy and healthy
May you be safe and protected
May you be free from inner demons and outer harms
May you experience ease in your mind and body
May you feel my lovingkindness
To my fellow seniors, Congratulations!
